The Good Search, LLC Named One of Top 50 Connecticut Woman-Owned Businesses.
Westport, CT: In recognition of the economic power of privately held businesses, DiversityBusiness.com, the nations’ leading business-to-business internet site, has named The Good Search, LLC as one of the Top 50 Woman-Owned Businesses in Connecticut – 2010. Companies on the list will be honored later this month at an annual conference in Washington DC.
This is the 11th annual listing of Connecticut’s top businesses by DiversityBusiness.com and the third time The Good Search has received the award. The companies listed on the Top Business Lists represent the Nation’s top multicultural and woman-owned business earners and challenge the long-held notion that a privately held business is small or insignificant. Winners are sought after by major corporations wishing to increase spending with small businesses.
“On behalf of the State of Connecticut, it is my pleasure to extend greetings and congratulations as you celebrate The Good Search, LLC’s recognition as a top business by DiversityBusiness.com,” said Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy. He continued, “I join with the staff of DiversityBusiness.com in commending The Good Search, LLC and all at the company who have worked hard to achieve this honor. This designation is a testament to your exceptional service and your dedication to Connecticut’s economic success in the future. Your contributions are a major asset to Connecticut’s business community and a great benefit to all of the citizens of the state of Connecticut. It is a pleasure to extend my words of tribute to the company. Please know that you have my best wishes for continued success in the future. ”
“The Good Search is positioned as a next-generation alternative to traditional search firms, one that delivers talent faster and more cost-effectively than retained and contingency firms. Early on, we made it a practice to advocate for diversity in the workplace because it simply makes the companies we serve more competitive. In addition to offering executive search and talent pipelines, we also offer diversity recruitment as a service for the employers that we serve,” detailed Krista Bradford, CEO of The Good Search. She continued, “ It’s an honor to be considered one of the top woman-owned businesses in our state and are delighted to be in the company of the other organizations on this list who are having a positive impact on their communities and on the State of Connecticut”.”
This List is a classification that represents the top small businesses in the U.S., in sectors such as technology, manufacturing, food service and professional services. Large organizational buyers throughout the country that do business with multicultural, small and women-owned businesses use the list. The List is produced annually by DiversityBusiness.com, the nation’s leading multicultural B2B Internet portal that links large organizational buyers to multicultural product and service suppliers. The winning companies will be honored at a special awards ceremony at DiversityBusiness.com’s “11th Annual Multicultural Business Conference” taking place April 19 – April 21, 2011 at GayLord National Resorts and Convention Center on the Potomac in Washington D.C. Krista Bradford is quoted in the IEEE Spectrum Magazine article called Networking Know-How by Susan Karlin.
. . .“The idea is to start befriending recruiters and developing relationships with influential people well before you need them, “ says Krista Bradford, a two-year IEEE member who runs Bradford Executive Research LLC, a technology-focused recruitment and research firm in Westport, Conn. . . .
. . . Be selective. Not everyone listed on a person’s connections list is necessarily someone they would endorse, and often people are added on a quid pro quo basis. Employers should note whom people are connected to in their networks and the seemingly ubiquitous names. “If someone is connected with real heavyweights or accomplished technologists, it gives me a sense they’re running in the right crowd,” says recruiter Bradford. “Other names I see attached to everybody, and I wonder how discriminating they are” . . .
. . .And despite privacy controls offered by some sites that limit what profile information is publicly readable, information can leak out. What makes someone a hoot at a party may not be perceived as the best endorsement of his or her professional skills – like the guy who lost a job when one employer noticed his full-body tattoos plastered on Tribe.net, a social and community networking site. “Be aware that if it’s searchable in Google, it’s fair game,” says Bradford. . . .
. . . Be specific. Be as detailed as you can in the kind of contacts and job information you’re seeking. When responding to job openings on a networking site, don’t send generic information and leave it to the recruiter to figure out how you can work with a company. You’ve taken the trouble to seek someone out. They should at least know why you’re there . . .
