Peter Wang joins Refinery29 in New York City as Chief Technology Officer

In Executive Moves, Peter Wang has joined Refinery29 as their Chief Technology Officer. He is based in the New York City area.  Mr. Wang will oversee the technology team as well as the company’s product, User Experience and engineering teams.  Refinery29 is the largest independent fashion and style website in the United States.

Previously, Mr. Wang has served as Senior Vice President of Product at Appsavvy where he led both Product and Engineering teams. Prior to Appsavvy, Mr. Wang served as Director of Engineer at Buddy Media, where Mr. Wang grew the engineering team from a startup size of eight employees to a  team of over thirty in just over a year.  He also served as Vice President, Online Strategy and Client Experience at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where he was focused on creating and implementing an online strategy and digital product development. Other earlier roles include Regional Director, NYC for Global Entrepreneurship Week and Project Manager, Operations for UBS Investment Bank and Technology Manager at BNY Mellon.  He began his career in software engineering with roles at Bombadier Corporation, Carnegie Mellon University, Ford Motor Company and 21 Productions, Inc.

Mr. Wang serves as a mentor for the Academy for Software Engineering; serves on the advisory board for the New England Conservatory and serves as an executive  board member of the Andrew Carnegie Society.  In addition, he continues to serve as an advisor to Appsavvy and is a member of the IAB Social Media Committee.

Mr. Wang graduated with Honors from Carnegie Mellon University with a BS in Electrical Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
