Recruited: Intel Corporation Vice President and Director of Research
Westport, CT: The Good Search successfully recruited Intel’s Vice President and Director of Research. Dr. David Tennenhouse joined Intel Corporation to lead its research efforts. At Intel Corporation, Dr. Tennenhouse was responsible for innovating an “open collaborative” approach to corporate research. His role at Intel Corporation, in part, was based on his earlier work as DARPA’s Chief Scientist and Director of its Information Technology Office. At both DARPA and Intel, he was involved in the strategic planning and execution of programs related to a wide range of technologies, including networking, wireless communications, computer architecture, distributed computing, machine learning, search, data mining, image processing, robotics, MEMs, healthcare, nanotechnology, and biotechnology.
Dr. Tennenhouse is a member of the ACM, a Fellow of the IEEE, and a member of the FCC’s Technology Advisory Board. He has held academic appointments at MIT in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and in the Sloan School of Management. Dr. Tennenhouse holds a B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and obtained his Ph.D. at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge.

Dr. David Tennenhouse was the first candidate our firm recruited. He successfully served at Intel as the Head of Research at Intel for 7 years. In February 2006, he replaced Udi Manber as the Chief Executive Officer of A9.com, the search subsidiary of Amazon.com. He left Amazon in September 2006. In 2007, he became a partner at the venture capital firm New Venture Partners. In September 2012, he became Vice President for Technology Policy at Microsoft. In May 2014, he joined VMware where he served as Chief Research Officer at VMware, a role he held until early this year. He now serves as a strategic advisor for several companies.
