The film was produced by Gena Davis who has made it her mission to advance the cause of women in Hollywood. She founded the Gena Davis Institute on Gender in Media in 2004. Since then, the Institute has remained the only global research-based organization working within the entertainment industry to create gender balance, foster inclusion, and reduce negative stereotyping in entertainment media.
